You have a bumper business name, slogan, logo or even eBook name in your head. It’s a goer and you can’t wait to get it out there. You love it. It is hip. It relates perfectly to what you are linking it to.

Have you checked to see if the general population think the same? Is your target market in love with the name as much as you are?

In business, something that you love and that you think will work really well, may just not resonate the same with your target audience. They may miss the point, not understand where you are coming from or think it’s totally crap and move right along.

This happened to yours truly only a few weeks ago.

Even when you’ve been in business for a while, you can still miss the mark.

I had a name all sorted for my new eBook which focusses on how to increase your profits within your business using non product related methods. Great idea yeah! But little did I know, the name I had chosen would have almost certainly resulted in my eBook being a flop. All because of the title.

Who knew that some simple words could be perceived so differently.

When I posted a Poll in the Business Remarkables Facebook Group for feedback, I didn’t realise how much my eBook title was going to put people off.

“Earn More and Work Less with Passive Income” was not going to work for a book title according to the majority of voters. And what is worse, most saw it as Spammy. That is dead-set nearly the worst outcome you can have. Here is the proof!

second opinion poll 1

Good thing I did a poll!

But, thankfully I did call on my trusted and very wise fellow business folk and I was able to establish a new title without any harm being done.

I was not put off by this result, but grateful for the honest feedback that was received.

So, lessons learned. It is always a good idea to seek a second opinion on something because you just might be surprised by the outcome… one way or another!

If you have even 1% doubt in what you are doing, it doesn’t hurt to put a poll in your favourite business group or even ask a friend their opinion. It doesn’t mean you are wavering, it sometimes just helps to have fresh eyes look at it from a new perspective.

Do you have something you are tossing about but not 100% sure it will work?

Why not post a poll in our Business Remarkables Masterminds Group and see if you are on the right track.
